Eagan, MN – On Tuesday, the Angie Craig for Congress campaign will release a new ad contrasting Craig’s commitment to having genuine conversations and listening to Minnesota families with Jason Lewis, who has taken nearly half of his contributions from special interests and refused to hold public town halls during his term in Congress. The ad highlights Craig’s commitment to finding solutions for families in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District -- including the high cost of healthcare, protecting Social Security and getting special interests out of Washington.

“I’m going to be fighting to make sure that healthcare is affordable and accessible for every family,” Craig says in the ad, which also highlights the need to get special interest money out of politics.

Craig has pledged to hold at least one town hall-style event per month that is open to the public, with a robust question and answer period, as a member of Congress.

During his term in Congress, Rep. Jason Lewis has repeatedly voted with special interests at the expense of his constituents. While more than half of the residents under 65 in the district have a pre-existing condition - such as cancer, asthma and diabetes - Lewis accepted more than $30,000 from the pharmaceutical industry and voted for the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The AHCA would have gutted protections that allowed people with pre-existing conditions to have access to affordable health insurance. Lewis has taken nearly $100,000 from Wall Street interests, while voting for a tax bill which gave more than 80 percent of its tax breaks to large corporations and the wealthiest five percent of Americans.

The ad, which will run on cable, broadcast television and digital streaming services beginning Tuesday, is available to view here.
